Candidate of the Week - Colour Science Graduate, UK

I have just graduated from Department of Colour Science (University of Leeds, UK).  I am sophisticated with  colour and imaging science, including colour theory, imaging quality, imaging evaluation, colour psychology, colour emotion (colour preference, colour harmony), and colour measurement.  I have also done many psychophysical experiments to investigate the people's emotion on colour appearance and image quality.


Education:
Sep 2004 - Oct 2008?University of Leeds, UK
PhD in Department of Colour Science (Supervisor: Prof. Ronnier Luo)

Achievements:

  1. Developed characterisation models for HP inkjet printer and displays

  2. Investigated different colour spaces (CIEU*V*W*, CIELAB, CAM02-UCS)

  3. Investigated imaging quality on different displays (CRT, LCD, PDP, mobile displays)

  4. Developed the characterisation model for the RGB LED panel 

  5. Developed an LED based high quality daylight source

  6. Tested the quality of different daylight sources by different psychophysical methods

  7. Investigated colour harmony and colour preference properties

  8. Developed effective visual methods and mathematical models for evaluating the colour rendering properties for different light sources

  9. Investigated imaging differences on LCD display

  10. Assisted the design and evaluation the commercial viewing cabinets

  11. Colour management for displays and printers


Other projects involved:            
Quantification of colour appearance and imaging quality under different viewing conditions

  1. Testing the colours of images on displays under different viewing conditions.

  2. Assessed the colour appearance of different images under different viewing conditions.

  3. Assessed the printer quality by comparing hardcopy and softcopy images

  4. Assisted in analyzing the results and testing the current colour appearance model and imaging quality model

A new colour gamut for object colours”

  1. Measuring the colour of various objects (matte samples, glossy samples, colour chart samples, and textile samples)

  2. Assisted in analyzing the colour gamut data of these objects

  3. Assisted in developing new colour gamut for new ISO standard


Measuring total appearance of alcohols

  1. Testing the transmittance of beers and whiskeys by spectrophotometer

  2. Visually assessed the colour appearance of beers and whiskeys
