CAREER OVERVIEW
I have been in the printing industry for 20 years. For the last 10 years I have owned and operated my own litho offset printing business. I have performed the duties of a Printer, Production Manager, Sales Manager, Estimator and Customer Relationship Manager.

Jan 1998 –Current Owner
GSM Printing
GSM Printing is a small litho offset printing company which offers dtp designing and general commercial printing (books, magazines, invoice books, brochures, leaflets calendars etc)

Key Responsibilities
• I have a team of 5 personnel of which I allocate daily duties to the dtp design studio on production for the following day/s.
• Advising ways in which to layout work making it easiest most economical and efficient for the print production room.
• In the machine room I organise and oversee the production of all machines.
• Ordering of paper and supplies.
• Plate making and developing.
• Calculate printing schemes for least wastage, guillotining for pre-press and final cutting.
• All colour matchings and mixings.
• Manage out work such as scoring, machine uv varnishing, quarter binding, die cutting etc.
• Ensuring delivery dates are met.
• Break downs relating to the machining of spare parts and repair assistance with engineers if necessary.
• Replacing parts namely gears, rollers, bearings, grippers, vacuum pump blades etc.
• Binding experience,quater binding,folding,stitching,collating
• Ensuring maintenance is carried out on all machines oiling and greasing.
• Liase with customers and agree delivery dates.
• Manage debtors and creditors, debt collecting if necessary.

• Developed a process of litho printing onto vinyl sheets


Jan 1992 –1997 Factory Manager
Duiker Print
Duiker Print is a medium to large size printing company based in Cape Town. Catering to all aspects of printing.

• Technical training of apprentices
• Ensure smooth running of factory, solving problems relating to Production flow
• Ordering consumables (paper;ink;solvents) sourcing best prices

Key Achievements
• Managed and assisted in making Duiker print a successful printing company, still operating today

Foreshore Printers
Foreshore printers is a medium size printing company, catering to all aspects of printing

• Ensure paper and consumables available for each job
• Running of printing machines
