Candidate of the Week: Graphic Designer with trade background

I am currently working as a casual Mac Operator for Image Digital Publications building press advertisements for the Messenger Newspaper.

Previously, I have worked at State Print, Lane Print Group and Show-Ads Adelaide in which I ran the design studio and filled in as a Show-Ads on-site operator at Young and Rubicam, Toop & Toop, and KWP Advertising. I have studied Advertising and Graphic Design at the Douglas Mawson Institute of Tafe and also hold a trade certificate as a Compositor which I have upgraded to a Certificate IV in Graphic Prepress.

I have also had updated Illustrator training and completed an introduction to building web pages with Interact Training whilst working at Show-Ads Adelaide.

I have worked in the print media industry for 19 years (I am 36 years of age), and have worked on a casual/part time basis or freelanced since the birth of our daughter Grace. I currently work in the evenings on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at Image Digital Port Adelaide site. I also freelance to Caston Design when required.

I have had experience working directly with customers, quoting for design and typesetting work, running a design studio, general typesetting, building advertisements, graphic design, page makeup, generating pdfs and running film through to separation stage.
