Candidate of the week: Production Manager, Melbourne

I have worked in a production environment for my entire working life and as a Production Manager for the past four years managing over 50 permanent staff. From time to time the total staff under my supervision reached almost 100 persons when casual labour was included. Not only do have proven skills and capability working as a production manager, but it is work which I thoroughly enjoy.

I initially qualified as a tradesman but have more recently obtained professional production training, qualifying for the Certificate in Production Management at Latrobe University in 2000. I have also taken courses in OH&S and Time Line Management.

I pride myself in planning and executing impeccable production schedules and always strive to meet production deadlines and company targets. An important KPI at Henderson was the “Monthly Target List”. I was responsible for achieving the overall target and constantly monitored the factory performance against this target during the month. This required achievement of lower level KPI’s such as daily unit targets and reduced set-up times.

I display excellent time management skills whereby assembly lines work like clockwork under my leadership. Ensuring quality standards are always meet is also a key part of my approach. In my former role our product range was aimed at the premium end of the market. I am keenly aware of the importance of health and safety and have confidently managed all issues related to this area including safety committees and work care claims management.

I have found Production Management most rewarding and I have a genuine interest in all areas of production. I have an outgoing jovial personality and display an outstanding rapport with fellow employees. I refer to myself as a people’s person where the employee’s welfare is paramount. I also consider my aim is to make sure all fellow staff are satisfied and happy with their work environment. This ensures that my production targets are reliably met.
