Canon enters market for variable data printing

Objectif Lune established its first Australian office in 2004, with Canon now distributing the company's PlanetPress software across the country. PlanetPress has already gathered steam overseas for its canniness with both transactional printing (printed bills and statements) and variable data printing (used for one-to-one direct marketing).

PlanetPress also stands out from the crowd with its ability to utilise a PC, a server or the printer itself to manage the merging of a database with the master document. The software uses the industry standard PostScript to communicate with printing equipment, meaning it remains compatible across a range of different devices.

Steven Brown from Canon Australia is enthusiastic about the possibilities of variable data printing. “We understand the basic principle that every customer is different, and the power of providing each with their own message is beyond doubt,” he says. “At Canon Australia, we know the future of our industry lies in the services and software that we provide as part of our vision of helping organisations form deeper connections with their customers,” he says.

Brown also emphasises the cooperation between the two organisations in providing variable data software. “No two Canon customers are the same, which is why we're backing this software with Canon professional services to allow us to build a unique solution for every organisation."
