Catalogues hold their weight at annual awards

Retail giant, Myer, triumphs at 18th annual Australian Catalogue Awards.

The event, held in Melbourne last week, saw Myer score four awards, including Catalogue of the Year for a print run of over 1.5 million catalogues. It was Myer’s second consecutive year of taking out the top award in addition to winning for its chain store and high volume fashion catalogues under Special Event or Theme, Adult Apparel and General Apparel categories.

New chief executive of the Australian Catalogue Association, Ken Bishop (pictured) said that this year’s winners each showed the design and effectiveness of this form of marketing.

“The high standard of tonight’s winners is a perfect example of why our industry is increasingly billed as the most effective form of message delivery for retailers, in reaching their end-user consumers,” he said.

The Foundry was the big creative winner of the night, taking home the Best Agency of the Year Award, breaking a six year winning streak by Cumming Agency and Studios while The Foundry’s talented David Budd was crowned Best Young Designer of the Year.
