Chairman Warwick picks his judges for new look PrintNSW Awards
Entries for the PrintNSW Business Awards will open in April 2006 and close in July, with winners announced at the Crowne Plaza, Coogee Beach, on September 15. The judging panels across the four categories will be headed up by Tony Ashton, Allan Wetherell, Lila Bate

Roden says he is looking forward to working with the convening judges, and confirms the criteria for entry is currently under review to make the awards more attractive for businesses to enter.
“Planning is on track and businesses will have the opportunity to enter the prestigious award when entries are called for in mid April,” says Roden. “Amendments to the selection structure will offer business a more simple process for entering the Awards.”
Tony Ashton, technical manager of Red Paper Group, is the judge for the Best in Innovative Business Practices panel. Ashton’s involvement with the printing industry stretches over 41 years, occupying technical, IT, managerial and board positions. He also served as national delegate and regional vice president of the Paper Marketing Council, and created training programs for The National Paper Merchanting Council in NSW.
Andrew Doig, director of the Australian Environment Business Network, will head up the Best in Environmental Initiatives panel. Doig has over 20 years experience in the environmental field, with a background in chemical engineering and 12 years as an industry advocate.
Allan Wetherell, manager of graphic arts courses for TAFE NSW, will take the reigns on the Best in Educational and Training Initiatives panel. He is the major link between TAFE and the printing industry, and was a lithographic printer and plate maker by trade. Wetherell is also actively involved in a number of industry associations, including the LIA and Printing Industries.
Lila Bate, director of consulting firm Netsafe, is in control of the Best in Occupational Health & Safety Initiatives panel. Bate has over 20 years experience in OH&S within a wide range of industries.
