Chromaticity experts turn their eyes on New Zealand

Chromaticity follows DES' leap across the Transtasman and delivers Advanced Colour Management training to New Zealand.

David Crowther, manager of Chromaticity Australia delivered two 3-day courses in conjunction with Canon New Zealand. He describes the training as a natural extension of the developing relationship between the Australian and New Zealand printing industries.

"As the course has proven to be such a success in the Australian market, it was a logical step to deliver it to New Zealand and meet customer demand for Transtasman operations," he said.

Inspiration for the course came after Nick Heaphy, national technical services specialist, Canon NZ received training from Crowther which he believed to be invaluable. "After attending a training session with David in Australia that I found useful in clarification of my colour knowledge, I thought that the course would really help some of the other staff, especially those who did not come from a colour printing background," he said.

The first course was delivered internally to Canon sales and technical staff, with the aim of them developing a deeper understanding of colour management. Heaphy considers the two-day training a success.

"It has made our staff more aware of the requirements around colour management and will allow them to better explain to customers how to use colour management to get the most out of our devices," he said.

A diverse mix of participants from digital print and design backgrounds attended the second course, which saw Canon introduce the imagePRESS C1 device for output to tailor the course for their requirements.

"By opening the second course to our customers it allowed them hands-on experience that they can take away and apply to their workflow to improve the printed results that they can achieve on our equipment," Heaphy said.
