CIPPI award brightens Southern Colour’s day

Two companies from India and Australia have taken out the CIP4 International Print Production Innovation Award (CIPPI) for 2008.

Pragati Offset of Hyderabad, India, won Best Process Automation Implementation - Emerging Markets for its excellent knowledge of computers and the software industry.

Locally, Southern Colour of Victoria, Australia, which has used Metrix since early last year, was awarded the prize for Best process Automation Implementation - Asia Pacific and was praised by judges as "an example of a company that sees this as a change in the way they do business and keep going on to the next area with the process."

Allan Gardiner, prepress manager at Southern Colour, (pictured) praised Metrix for the advantanges it had brought to the company.

"Metrix is a remarkable application. It enables our planners to quickly build accurate production plans and layouts, dynamically adapting the plan as changes are made," he said.

"The resulting production plans can be printed as detailed reports, and can also be passed on as industry standard JDF files that can be used with other downstream processes within our workflow."

The awards recognise leading printers, publishers of prepress services that demonstrate leadership in the pursuit of process automation technology.

President of LithoTechnics, Rohan Holt, congratulated the winners. "We are honoured to be a part of our customers' success in implementing process automation, and thrilled that they have been recognised for their innovation and achievements," he said.
