Here’s something from Kevin Tyre we’ve been trying to get into the bulletin for the past few weeks. It concerns Opal Software, which is somewhat unique, specializing in Print Selling Solutions. Its product range includes a powerful Filemaker-based quoting & management package plus the new PrintJOB online ordering system from the UK. The first installation has already occurred into Brebner Print in NZ and Tyre says he has considerable interest from major Australian Printers.
Basically it means if you want to have an off-the-shelf internet print ordering system for your customers, this is it.

Who was that said there was no money in printing? Apart from the bonza Blue Star results in this bulletin, supplier HP in the US has tapped into a different way of making money. It has just inked a US$15 million deal with University Hospitals Health Systems (UHHS) that will save an estimated $2.8 million in annual printing and imaging costs. HP will streamline UHHS' existing print infrastructure across more than 150 facilities throughout Northern Ohio.
It makes sense of the Xerox ambition to achieve 50 per cent of its profits from services over the next five years.

Despite the nasty fate suffered by just about every Metro-style newspaper in capital cities, Messenger Newspapers in Adelaide, a News Limited company, is relaunching its CBD-targeted newspaper title with a marketing campaign that “will aggressively target the commuter market.”
That may mean you’ll have no choice but to take it when it’s offered.

And finally . . . here’s a yarn from those lovely people at Technova World in India tkx@technovaworld.com that has a grand air of down home to it.
My husband was in a rush. He stopped his car and jumped out to grab a
wada pav. In his haste, he forgot to put the car in hand-break, and when
he realized it was still moving, he jumped back in. But instead of
hitting the brakes, he hit the accelerator pedal. The car smashed into a
stop sign, which bent halfway up.
An old paanwallah sitting in his shop looked at my husband and at the
bent post, then observed, "Those stop signs are too good, no?"
