The Printing Execs of South Australia, with a little help from their friends in the west, got around to firing paintballs at one another during their convention at Victor Harbor, south of Adelaide. It was all in aid of the theory and practice of building and working in teams.
Pictured are some of the combatants before the skirmish: (left to right) Lachlan Smith, President of the PEA of WA, , Julie Shanks PEA of WA, and Toby Willats PEA of SA.

It seems the Printing Executives are becoming one of the more active industry associations with word coming in of an upcoming convention for the Queensland branch. Ashley Clarke, Promotions Executive, K.W. Dogggett Fine Paper in Brisbane, has sent details of the group’s annual conference at Kooralbyn Hotel Resort on Friday 6 Sunday 8 August 2004. A more restful theme than their South Australian counterparts, it’s all about Restoring the Balancebetween work and personal life.

Peter Barnett, marketing manager of Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand is jumping the fence to the production side of the industry, taking on a marketing role with Visual FX in Leichardt. Although the all-digital company does not have any Heidelberg presses, it does have one of the new NexPresses in addition to a couple of large Vuetec inkjet machines. Peter reckons he wants to get involved in making the technology work in the market.
Leaving the industry after a serious sojourn is Jordan Reizes, marketing manager of Adobe for most of Asia. Following a career trajectory that included a stint with Printing Industries and Fuji Xerox as well as Adobe, he’s taken up with EMC, a storage company – digital storage that is. He laments that the only downside is that in his new role there is no obvious link to the printing industry.
