Cliff Brigstocke braves the cold in CEO sleep out

Opus CEO, Cliff Brigstocke, sleeps rough to raise money for Australia’s homeless.

Brigstocke traded the comfort of his own bed for some cardboard in Luna Park, Sydney, with 180 other New South Wales CEOs last week as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Brigstocke (pictured) described the night as “very moving”. “We heard first-hand accounts of ex and current homeless people,” he said. “Their stories certainly puts life into perspective.”

The annual event takes place around Australia and, at the time of writing, had raised $2.6 million in total to help homeless people around the country. Brigstocke was supported by many in the printing industry who made donations to the cause.

Though temperatures were chilly, he looks back on the night with warm memories. “It has certainly been a great experience and one that has moved me,” he said. “Sleeping out for one night – thankfully without rain – is a very small thing in comparison with the issues faced by so many each night.”

Brigstocke intends to undertake the challenge again next year. His advice for anyone considering joinging him? "Get there early as you do quite literally have to scramble to make a stake and secure a space – mine was partly undercover outside a ticket window!"
