CMYKhub opens $4 million Sydney operation
Rapid growth sees trade-only printer, CMYKhub, move into new Sydney premises.
According to Clive Denholm, founder, (pictured) it was important for the company, which has headquarters in Heidelberg West, Victoria, to have a stronger presence in New South Wales.
“We have set up this new factory to support our existing NSW customer base and to hopefully grow with new customers. Being local to the market will improve turnaround time, reduce freight costs and allow our customers to see and feel the equipment in the factory that they can now use to grow their business,” he said.
“We are seeking strong long-term relationships with print shops that are win-win and this type of investment is part of what we do to support those customers.”
The offset operation opens in April and will include a brand-new A1 Ryobi 925 five-colour with coater. Denholm said that the decision to purchase another Ryobi was the result of a long-standing association between the two. CMYhub’s Melbourne arm also features two Ryobi sheetfed presses.
Denholm has a history of involvement in hub printing. Prior to founding CMYKhub, he started Worldwide Online Printing, a franchise hub and spoke operation based in Perth, which he sold to an investment fund in 2006.
The new Sydney factory joins the hub mecca, with Snap also based in the same suburb and Co-operative Sydney Digital Print (CDP) in close-by Auburn. Former Worldwide Online staffer, Ian Marshall, will run the Sydney factory.
This is only the start for CMYKhub, with plans for further growth throughout Australia. “We are keen to move into Queensland next,” Denholm said, adding that this expansion would not be likely to take place this year.
