CMYKit guru sets the standard

When it comes to UGRA, Jason Hall of CMYKit can now rightfully claim to be an expert.

The technical specialist (pictured below) has just received UGRA Expert Certification after completing a two-day training course covering areas such as colour, proofing and PDFs, followed by a final exam. This experience was like being back in high school for Hall, who admitted to being more than a little nervous.

"I was sweating and shaking because it was the first time I'd done an exam in a long time," he said.

Finding out that he had passed was a great relief. "It was a very big deal for me because it adds even more credibility to my work with ISO."

UGRA certifies printing and prepress companies according to PSO. UGRA PSO certification is accomplished in a one-day audit where the company that is to be certified must show through areas such as proofing, plate making and data creation, that it complies with the standards, that the devices are calibrated, the standard operation procedures are available and that the aim values are reached within the given tolerances.

Hall busied himself by living and breathing ISO standards since October last year. To now be certified is, he said, "the icing on the cake."

"There aren't many people who have sat for certifications so this offers greater credibility for the business," he said.
