ColoRite Equipment reduces prices on X-RITE, offers cashback!
One of the first suppliers to respond to the strengthening Australian dollar, ColoRite Equipment has reduced suggested selling prices on its range of X-Rite
spectrophotometers, densitometers, dotmeters and colour management software by 15% or more.
"We buy in US dollars from X-Rite USA, and the surging Australian dollar has enabled us to pass on the savings to customers, whether direct or through our
dealers," says Managing Director David Mulligan. (pictured)
Additionally since January 2004, ColoRite Equipment has been offering Cashback payments of up to $700, to all purchasers of featured X-Rite instruments and Monaco proofing ensembles. This offer concludes on February

About Colorite Equipment and X-rite
X-Rite is regarded as the world’s leading manufacturer of spectrophotometers, densitometers and associated software, and is a NASDAQ-listed technology company with sales in excess of USD$100 million per year. ColoRite equipment is the exclusive Australian and New Zealand distributor for these products, with a network of qualified dealers providing a comprehensive geographic spread across Australasia.
The range of X-Rite instruments covers basic, budget-priced monitor calibrators and spectrodensitometers, to highly sophisticated scanning spectrophotometers that measure, display, analyse and archive spectral data and density on sheets and webs up to 2 metres wide. Over in the automotive paint industry, there is a multi-angle spectrophotometer that is so widely used, it is regarded as the industry standard.
A brief look at the range
Looking at just a few of X-Rite’s colour measuring instruments; the 939 is the definitive graphic arts spectrodensitometer, or ‘combo’ unit. It offers unparalleled ‘multi-unit agreement’ where several 939s can be used in various locations and deliver the same readings. As any user of spectrophotometry knows, this is a big issue today. The most demanding printing, packaging and proofing environments need 939s’ which has on-board storage for thousands of colour standards and samples and can operate independently of a computer, so press-side approvals are made more convenient.
The X-Rite 500 series – 504, 508, 518, 528 and 530 - provide economical colour control for everything from basic density measurements to advanced colour for special colours and ink laboratory needs.
The X-rite 518
Strip scanning spectrophotometers have gained popularity due to their speed, economy and accuracy, particularly in the large-format inkjet printing and proofing area. The X-Rite DTP-41 has become the benchmark in this application, reducing ICC profile target reading time from several hours to minutes! Its counterpart, the DTP-32 strip scanning densitometer, is an underestimated boon for keeping multiple printers and copiers within calibration
Turbocharging colour on the press
Amongst the star performers of the moment are X-Rite’s range of ATS/ATD – Auto Tracking Spectrophotometer and Densitometers. These units are designed for the press hall rather than prepress since they measure and analyse colour data across the sheet or web, from 28” (711mm) to 80” (2,040mm) wide. Density and colour problems can be immediately identified and rectified and all data is archived so that reports can be produced that look at press performance over a period of time. The resulting improvements in quality, reduction of ink and paper wastage and automation quickly deliver returns on the investment.
The ATS System
ATD and ATS systems come in three types, for sheetfed applications, commercial web and newspaper web. With the increasing adoption of JDF and CIP3/4, an ATS or ATD will eventually become an essential part of any press purchase. In fact some manufacturers have begun supplying presses with X-Rite ATS or ATD already fitted.
Several major Australian print groups have already installed ATS/ATD systems but it is still early days and this technology will eventually become commonplace.
Measuring dots on the plate
X-Rite recognised the advanced dot-metering technology of UK-based Centurfax and acquired the CC-Dot product range in 2002. Now firmly a part of the X-Rite brand range, the PlateDot, ComboDot and PrintDot models deliver unsurpassed accurate measurement and viewing of dot structures for plates, film or hard copy. These hand-held devices are a must for all offset printers and engineers.
The Flexo market has not been overlooked, with the introduction of FlexoDot which works with both film-based and CTP-based Flexo.
ColoRite Equipment’s range is rounded off with Pantone® digital libraries, Monaco ICC-profiling software, Monaco Proofing software and Monaco Optix; a calibration device for LCD and CRT displays.
