Brisbane direct marketing and communication specialist Colourwise Digital has enjoyed a significant boost in business since the installation of a fleet of five new Konica Minolta presses.

Colourwise replaced its existing Konica Minolta technology with an impressive line-up that includes two bizhub Press C1100’s, an AccurioPress C2070 and two high-speed black and white bizhub Press 1250e’s.

“The new fleet was installed a few weeks ago and we’ve already seen a significant improvement in the Colourwise business,” says Mark James, CEO of GJI Group, which includes Colourwise Digital, PCGA Design Studio, Clickonprint Photobooks, Findmea Talent Agency, Little Big Designs and Customology.

“This new Konica technology has definitely improved our capabilities,” says James. “It’s much faster and it doesn’t take up as much space. We’re generating more work and we’re saving money by no longer having to outsource some of our jobs. Previously, we weren’t able to take advantage of work that was out there in the market.

“Some of the Colourwise work is for clients in the retail, educational and government space and, in the past, we’ve had to outsource some of the finishing, things like binding and stapling, but with this new technology we’re able to finish it on the fly.”

Colourwise, established in 1984, offers a range of VDP printing and direct mail options to a diverse group of clients including some of Australia’s largest retail corporations, government organisations and small businesses.

James says Colourwise, led by GM Colin Fraser – a former PMP manager - is in a growth phase.

“We’ve seen a marked increase in the business. Colin and his team were really the geniuses who first identified for us the value of variable data printing (VDP), in which elements like text, graphics and images can be changed from one printed piece to the next.

“Colin came to the board several years ago and asked us to invest in Konica because he saw the increasing importance of highly personalized, direct communication. This new technology helps to bring those communications to life.”

James says the installation at the Colourwise plant in Mansfield (pictured) went without a hitch.

“The Konica guys are very good. They installed the presses at the end of April and they were quickly up and running. The pre- and post-install support has been excellent. Konica was a standout partner during the move."
