Creative Suite has Quark hot on its heels

Available this week, the timing of the download is seen as being an attempt to keep Quark’s reputation strong in the face of stiff competition from Adobe. Terry Welty, Quark senior vice president of corporate marketing, said that the release was in some ways an offering of thanks to users.

“This suite of tools directly answers customers’ needs and enables simply better design,” he said. “There’s tremendous value in these XTensions … making them available at no charge is our way of saying thanks to QuarkXPress 7 customers.”

The XTensions available include XPert FindChange which allows users to transform documents, XPert ItemStyles, which enables the creation of attractive pages with consistent design and the XPert Pilot feature to let users go beyond thumbnails and see large overviews of their projects.

“The significance of the free XTensions download is not only that it rewards our customers, but in addition the tools provided as part of the free XPert Tools Pro download complements the new, enhanced and improved features of QuarkXPress 7,” said Joe Bizinger, national channel manager for Quark Australasia. “This allows our customers to unleash even more creativity and productivity, given the complimentary nature of the dozen or more XTensions provided in the download.”
