Cam Gurnett from CRG Designs in Carrum Downs, Victoria, is the winner of the Hexis Design Wrap competition.
Hexis Australia says it received a ‘pile of entries’ in its design comp, with judging done by blind submission and carried out by a panel comprising Hexis sales, training and installation Hex-perts, as well as representatives from the company’s French marketing team, arranged into three groups of four judges.
According to Ian Parsonson, managing director of Hexis Australia, they had a tough task to narrow down the field of entries to a few finalists.
“Picking the winning design was certainly difficult. With their varied backgrounds and viewpoints, our judges all provided different feedback and reasons for their top picks. It was interesting to see the slight variances between the judging groups, who each had different perspectives based on the visual, graphic and installation processes involved in each entry.”
Finally, however, a list of finalists whose designs best met the overall brief was agreed and this top ten were then rated with a score from one to 10 by each judge, for a final score out of a possible 120.
“It was a nail-biting finish, with scores really close right across the board,” Parsonson said, “but in the end our winner by only two votes, was Cam Gurnett from CRG Designs. Cam did a great job and we sincerely congratulate him for his efforts and the quality of his entry,”
“Quite honestly, all the designs had merit and we loved the enthusiasm of the entrants and the way they really embraced the task. The creative flair they bring to our industry is what keeps it fresh and new every day, and we are happy to be able to involve them in this way.”
The Hexis car will soon be wrapped and will be showcased around the industry over the coming months – meanwhile, if you don’t get a chance to see it in person, keep your eyes on the industry media and the Hexis Australia website www.hexis.com.au for photos to be posted soon.
