Currie Group hosts Shinohara print summit in Melbourne

Top management from the Japanese manufacturer fly in with plans for a new plant in Japan and to update on the IGAS press range.

Cementing the long-term relationship between the two companies the two CEOs, Mikio Shinohara and David Currie, pledged ongoing cooperation at a summit meeting in Melbourne last week. Celebrating 30 years of collaboration, the Shinohara management arrived with news of a major development in the manufacturing strategy of the venerable Japanese press maker.

After 88 years in the same city central location in Shizuoka, the company is developing a state-of-the-art factory on the outskirts. The new multi-million dollar facility promises to be the most up-to-date manufacturing site in the industry and represents the future proofing of the leading Japanese press brand.

In addition the Shinohara team briefed Currie management on the new range of presses being released in time for IGAS this month. Most noteworthy is the company’s move into the A1 market with the new 109 five-colour high-pile press with in-line UV coating.

“This size press is a perfect fit for our market here,” said Bernie Robinson, Sales Director, Currie Group. “It can take the larger size sheet and is fully automated. We’ve been having some pretty good results with Shinohara presses this year and the new 109 is sure to give us even more.”

The full-size 109 press leads off a range of new models including a new update to the best-selling Shinohara 52 VH with aqueous coating; the Shinohara 66, a four-colour, medium-pile press equipped with double diameter cylinders; two Shinohara 79 four-colour machines, one with two-over-two perfecting and UV drying.

“The Australian industry has great respect for the quality of the Shinohara brand. The presses have proven to be great value for money over time. With a number of customers heading to Japan for IGAS , I’m looking forward to showing them the new range,”
said Robinson.
