Cut off date looms for PICA awards
Entries close later this month for the first of the 2010 state-based PICA Awards judging.
Western Australian entries close on 16 July and Tasmanian PICA entries close on 30 July.
Tasmania will be the first to hold its awards presentation night on Saturday 7 August at Wrest Point Casino. The theme is: 'Get hooked on Vinyl Icons - when music travelled around in a circle with that familiar crackle of a needle carving through the grooves of a much loved album'.
Western Australia will hold its African Safari – Journey through the Savannah themed event on Saturday 28 August at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
South Australian and Northern Territory PICA entries close on 11 August followed by Victorian on 17 August, New South Wales 3 September. ACT and Queensland dates are pending as both events will not be held until November.
Printing Industries national communication and technical services manager, Joe Kowalewski, said 2010 heralded the continuing alignment of the state awards.
“Adjustments have been made to entry categories to better align the states to the National Print Awards and a common approach to the award presentations has also started with the adoption of uniform presentation medallions," he said.
“The most notable of these changes is in Victoria which is replacing its previous Diamond awards with the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.”
Kowalewski said information on all of the awards is available from the renamed PICA & NPA Information section of Printing Industries www.printnet.com.au website available via this link.
