CyraChrome accesses new CGS web-based proofing workflow at IPEX

ORIS Color Server migrates the industry-leading suite of prepress and publishing workflow tools to the web for remote colour proofing and prepress collaboration.

Soft proofing and certified ORIS hard copy proofing at discrete sites, either across town or on the opposite side of the globe, link stakeholders in the production process. Color Server is a permission-based workflow that brings the power and convenience of job ticket management, pre-flighting, file conversion and colour managed output to the web.

It is designed to allow companies to integrate their customers, whether agencies, prepress or printers, into an operational workflow, allowing certified proofs to be output where they are required -following a soft proofing process that has allowed potential problems to be ironed out. ORIS Color Server enhances communication by making the files available to authorized users, informing them of the status of their job and who in the chain has seen and approved the content and colour.

According to Michael Laird, managing director of CyraChrome, (pictured with Christop Tomasen of CGS.) the CGS agent in Australia, the move to a web-based Color Server is a logical step for the ORIS family of prepress tools. “Many of our customers already output proofs at remote sites around the country. It’s something CyraChrome has pioneered in Australia. Now they’ll be able to track the progress of the job, keep in touch with others who may need to sign off and agree on a certified proof before outputting the contract hard copy proof.

“I don’t believe the soft proof will replace the hard copy proof, but they will work together, facilitating and speeding up the approval process.”

Expanding ORIS colour proofing to more graphic arts markets.

Color Server will make use of the latest 5.2 version of CGS’s flagship ORIS Color Tuner. This latest version enhances the industry leading proofing workflow with spot colour fidelity, more precise preflight controls and significantly faster colour match speeds.

It is one of a number of new products that CGS is developing to bring its unique colour technology to a wider range of graphic arts markets. The difficulty of ensuring the same colour reproduction fidelity across all the collateral of a marketing campaign – packaging, point of sale wide format inkjet, offset printed brochures and fliers - provides the opportunity for ORIS proofing expertise. Apart from introducing ORIS Packaging Pro, a proofing workflow for the flexography and gravure markets, at this IPEX CGS is promoting a number of new workflow modules.
  • ORIS Press Matcher is a tool that allows prepress professionals to be confident the output across different methods of printing , such as flexo and gravure, are the same as the offset printed benchmarks. It is particularly effective in bringing digital printing to an accurate and reliable colour space.
  • ORIS Ink Saver is an innovative module that allows printers to reduce the weight of the ink on a job without losing any colour vibrancy. It can calculate the savings a printers can expect on a job by running the file through Ink Saver.
  • ORIS Sign Master is a workflow capable of driving over 500 different wide format and grand format machines, ensuring consistent colour throughout.
