CyraChrome goes even wider in Queensland

CyraChrome has installed two Agfa Grand Sherpa 64 Universal AM inkjet printers over the past few months. The first machine went to a leading commercial photography business on the Gold Coast, UBPhoto, where it is being used to output large, high quality photographic images onto canvas.

UBPhoto specialises in supplying finished artwork for interior design and promotional purposes to leading resorts and property developments in NSW and Queensland. In one installation, the company supplied more than 1,000 individual images to the Outrigger resort at Salt in northern NSW including one that measured six metres by eight metres on canvas. The images were used to decorate individual rooms as well public spaces such as the foyer.

According to Brian Usher, owner of UBPhoto, the Grand Sherpa 64 Universal AM printer offers the best combination of speed, size and quality for outputting onto canvas. Previously, production of the images created by UBPhoto had to be outsourced to Brisbane but now the company is able to save time in production as well as better manage the quality it requires.

Dedicated to digital

Just across the border in Tweed Heads, a new start-up company, Notifeye has also invested in the latest Grand Sherpa 64 Universal AM technology to provide a complete digital wide format print service.

Notifeye brands itself as a provider of 'wide format digital printing' to distinguish itself from sign shops or copy shops that may offer wide format print as a sideline. In contrast, Notifeye specialises in the production of high quality images onto a wide range of media up to 1.65 metres wide.

“I went for the Agfa because the quality of the printing is a league above some of the other machines around,” explains owner Steve Holman. “Also the service that CyraChrome gave me when I was inquiring initially was so good that it just swung me that way in the end.”

One of the company's first jobs was printing 50 A2-size posters for Twin Towns, a local club with interests in resort and property development. Previously, the wide-format print for Twin Towns had been out-sourced to Brisbane but by going to Notifeye instead, they were able to turn the work around inside 24 hours.

Since starting up in March, Notifeye has also started marketing a product called Stickons that creates short-run, die-cut vinyl adhesive labels customised for children's lunch boxes, school books etc. The company also offers a canvas art reproduction service, accepting customers' artwork as digital files and delivering them as high quality digital prints on stretched canvas frames.

The right service

These two Agfa installations by CyraChrome also coincide with the first installation in Queensland of the Octopus X4 wide format UV printer. This hybrid model capable of printing up to 2.04 metres wide on both rigid and flexible substrates was recently launched at Innovative Sign Systems in Brisbane where it is being used to deliver a full signage service.

Michael Laird, managing director of CyraChrome, says the success of CyraChrome in supplying to the Queensland market was a result of the hard work of the regional office led by Phillip Burrell in delivering great service to local customers.

“All these customers can point to the assistance and expertise that CyraChrome have provided before, during and after installation of their new printers.”

“This is an important consideration when you are investing in a market such as digital wide format, ensuring that you have both the right choice equipment for your needs as well as the necessary support of an experienced supplier.”

CyraChrome offers a complete range of digital wide format print options encompassing aqueous, solvent and UV ink systems. The company is also a specialist in digital colour management and workflow as well as offering a wide range of media and consumables for all wide format applications.
