CyraChrome grabs industry's attention with the Octopus X4-360 BIG
Following its recent announcement at PacPrint, leading digital colour specialists CyraChrome will be bringing to Australia a new wide format digital UV printer from Czech UV-printer manufacturers, Grapo.

The new printer, called the Octopus X4-360 BIG, can print on a wide range of substrates up to 1mm thick including paper, banners, textile, mesh and PVC, with a maximum printing width of 3550mm. It was launched at the Reklama 2005 exhibition in Prague with delivery of the first orders due at the end of May.
The Octopus X4-360 BIG uses the same proven UV print technology as demonstrated by the Octopus X4 printer, which was in full operation for interested punters on CyraChrome's stand during PacPrint, and also the recipient of one of Print 21's highly prestigious 'Hot Pick' awards. With a maximum printing width up to 2040mm, the printer was introduced to Australia by CyraChrome late last year and has generated considerable interest as a cost-effective, high quality UV printing solution.
“We are very pleased to introduce this expansion of the Octopus range of UV printers,” says CyraChrome managing director Michael Laird. “The introduction of the Octopus X4 was a breakthrough for this market in terms of flexibility and cost-effectiveness, and the new Octopus X4-360 BIG will give us even more options in terms of what we can offer our customers.”
Laird is confident the new Octopus has plenty to offer to the Australian wide-format market. “The range of applications for the Octopus is almost unlimited, but what we've shown is that whereas previously a system of this type would have required a major investment, today we can deliver a high quality UV printing system that is also very price competitive.”
Both the Octopus X4 and the Octopus X4-360 BIG use the proven Xaar XJ500/360/UV print heads designed for exceptional reliability and performance. While the X4 can print on a wide range of substrates, both flexible and rigid, up to 40mm thick, the X4-360 BIG is designed for roll-to-roll printing only. It has a maximum printing speed of up to 170m2/h (one-pass bi-directional mode) and 85m2/h (two-pass bi-directional mode).
“For users who require wide format printing on flexible materials up to three and a half metres wide, the new Octopus BIG is sure to grab their attention,” says Laird.
