Dagaz Paper keeps Burgo Group on a roll
New paper agent, Dagaz Paper, chosen as the exclusive agent for Burgo Group’s paper.
Dagaz Paper, which launched on 1 July this year, is the latest addition to the changing paper industry in Australia. The team of three is headed by Gordon Anthonisz, managing director, a paper merchant of 30 years, who previously held positions as general manager at Edwards Dunlop Paper Australia from 2004-2009; general manager at Dalton Web Australia from 2001-2004 and general manager at Spicers Paper Australia from 1997-2001.
The Burgo Group, which it takes responsibility for, was previously represented by Paperlinx via Spicers and Dalton Web. “We are excited to be the exclusive agents for Burgo Group, an established Italian paper producer that has enjoyed a strong market position for the last 30 years in Australia and New Zealand,” Anthonisz said.
Currently based in Clayton, Melbourne, Dagaz Paper will expand its presence further by opening an office in Sydney in September this year and appointing another member of staff. Anthonisz said that the company is still looking at facilities and is yet to decide upon a location.
Like most industries, paper has been hit hard by the global financial crisis. Anthonisz said that it had experienced declines across the trans-Tasman. “The market demand in Australia is probably down about 25 per cent over the prior year and 30 per cent down in New Zealand,” he added.
