Dainippon Screen will be using its drupa presence to showcase what it claims is the industry’s first paper-board handling function to be developed for a sheet-fed inkjet printing system – a development which will see its popular Truepress JetSX press now able to accommodate up to 0.6mm paper or board.

The Truepress JetSX press (pictured), the world’s first B2 sheet-fed inkjet printing system, will now be more desirable for those in the packaging industry as Dainippon Screen introduces the new thicker paper handling enhancement that will allow the press to take 0.6mm board for simplex, and up to 0.4mm thickness for duplex.

“One of the unique characteristics of the Truepress JetSX is its ability to print on heavier boards and, at drupa,” says Dainippon Screen’s vice president of Solutions and Technology, Tim Taylor. “With its new ability to print onto boards of up to 0.6 millimetres, the machine is also perfect for personalised packaging and prototyping.”

The company will also be introducing its brand new EQUIOS Universal Workflow system at drupa in May. The EQUIOS system is a fully automated workflow program that allows the control of multiple different output devices from within a single operating environment, and is designed to help those in the industry transition from conventional mass-production print to personalised print.

Drupa visitors will be able to see the EQUIOS system in action, as the company will provide a technology demonstration of a web-based variable data application at its stand. Dainippon Screen will also be running a Truepress JetSX press live at its drupa space, for visitors to check out its new paper weight flexibility first-hand

Much of the company’s display will be aimed at pushing its developing digital credentials, and will include new products for wide-format inkjet and the label industry, further extending its print-on-demand offering.

“Our strategy of evolving into a digital print company to meet the changing needs of the graphics market began in 2006 and at drupa this year we will present a range of powerful digital print on demand solutions,” says Dainippon Screen’s Media and Precision Technology Company, Katsuhiko Aoki.
