Alan O'Neil, long-time general manager at the general commercial printer said, “The speed of the HP Indigo 7r is twice as fast as our current Indigo, which we have had for seven years now. That machine has been so good for us. We are winning an increasing amount of digital work, so needed more firepower.

“We went with the HP Indigo as some customers demand it. We find its ability to print nice smooth solids is outstanding, there is hardly any difference with offset. Its performance on both coated and uncoated stocks is tremendous. We have some exacting clients, and the HP Indigo delivers on their requirements.

“We use the HP Indigo for all our high-quality, short-run work. It is more economical up to a few hundred copies to print on the HP Indigo than offset machines.”

O'Neil said, “The production speed of the SRA3 HP Indigo 7r is a major difference. We have effectively doubled our capacity. And we know there is a lot more short-run, high-quality digital work out there.”

Local Currie Group senior account manager Adrian Dixon said, “The team at Daniels have always looked to innovate and improve the level of service they provide the Perth market. This latest edition from HP will double their digital capacity and ensures the business can say yes to more jobs.”

Daniels is one of the big six printers in Perth, it runs offset and digital print, along with mailing, inserting, and plastic wrapping. Owned by Steve McAlinden, it has 28 staff running a double shift and produces virtually everything inhouse.

The company is one of the oldest printers in Australia, it was established 120 years ago, and owned by the same family for more than 100 years. Current owner Steve McAlinden bought it 15 years ago, with Alan O'Neil coming on board at the same time.

Phillip Rennell, sales and marketing director at Currie Group, said, “Daniels Printing Craftsmen introduced HP Indigo to their customers seven years ago, and has created a great loyalty with Indigo quality. Upgrading to gain the benefits of productivity the HP Indigo 7r delivers to them was a great fit with their quality focus, and for the future, we are really excited to see their next chapter.”
