Dave Crowther sets out to colour his own world
Taking local colour consulting to another level, DES hands over its Chromaticity Australia consulting and training division to Colour Graphic Services as part of a partnership agreement.
Designed to provide hands on working knowledge of colour management tools, Chromaticity training courses offer participants advanced professional knowledge of terminology, processes and procedures required to design, implement and operate a colour managed workflow.
Russell Cavenagh, national sales director for DES says it has been running these training courses for seven years, with Crowther as a driving force. “David was working for us full time, now he is working in his own operation specialising in print consulting on press, it’s a win-win for both of us.”
According to DES, this alliance will provide the industry with capabilities to have great technology specialists coupled with dedicated resources for creating profiles and standardizing colour across entire showrooms, plants or production facilities.
David Crowther, director of Colour Graphic Services says this opportunity to work closely with DES and other industry vendors will “lower the barriers to achieving colour accuracy, colour training and colour standards across all markets, implementing and audit certification for printing companies to ISO 12647 from an independent source.”

The main change to Chromaticity will be more customized training on site, compared to what used to be just a few days training at the DES facility in Sydney.
“Part of the arrangement of me leaving DES and setting up my own colour consulting business was DES’ decision to give me the reins of the Chromaticity brand,” said Crowther.
Colour Graphic Services will now have access to a wide range of DES colour management products including:
