DES boosts its workforce for the New Year

Leading imaging supplier adds an additional 12 graphic arts professionals to its existing stable, boosting its staff base to over 70 nationwide.

The DES head office in Sydney has taken on seven new staff, with the technical support division doubling in size with an additional four employees. Nathan Putnam's background in prepress and IT will support the EFI/Best proofing solutions, while Mark Rixon will providing Apple network maintenance skills and Adobe professional solution support.

Russell Cavenagh, sales director at DES, says the new staff will support the company's increasing focus on the proofing solutions from EFI.

“With the 3DAP version 2 approvals, our EFI/Best Colorproof XF proofing systems are being rolled out to a lot of major clients,” says Cavenagh. “We have employed the new staff to ensure we can maintain the level of service and support clients have grown to expect from DES.”

The sales department for DES has also grown in size. Mark Benny will provide support for the graphics art market, while Michael Hogan is jumping aboard the document management team. Courtney Crowther has joined the team to assist in marketing.

Ian Clare, managing director at DES, says the new recruits are spread across all departments in the company.

“With the successful acquisition of Rochester, the company has really grown recently,” says Clare. “The New Year looks very promising for us.”

Other additions thanks to the Rochester acquisition include Russell McLennan and David Fittler, now appointed technical account managers. DES claims this move will ensure customers will benefit from continued service and support in the graphic arts markets with wide-format inkjet printers, paper and colour management solutions.

Melbourne has added technical support with the appointment of Daniela Barth last month. Hailing from Switzerland, Barth has prior experience in sales and support for the proofing and prepress sector.
