Digital Dots determined to develop solution that’s spot on

British graphic arts media company, Digital Dots, in conjunction with an international group of proofing and colour specialists that includes: CGS; DuPont; EFI; Fujifilm; Heidelberg; Pantone; Screen; GMG and X-Rite, is working at developing a spot colour proofing systems test to be completed in March.

“Although many spot colours can be printed on press, they aren’t necessarily easy to produce on a CMYK proofing system, even those with additional colours,” says Laurel Brunner, Digital Dots publisher. She also believes that the continually growing array of colour options which designers have access to is making the problem worse.

Brunner admits that developing a more effective proofing system has been a difficult process, but she hopes that the final result will make it all worthwhile. “We believe it is very important to conduct this sort of work,” she says.

The results of Digital Dots’ study will be published in the April edition of Spindrift. To participate in Digital Dots’ spot colour proofing visit:
