KAMA unveils its latest digital finishing solution at Interpack 2014, as the market-wide shift to shorter runs moves onto packaging turf. The DC 76 foil die cutter and finisher is up and running on the HP Indigo booth, boasting the latest workflow integration as short folding carton runs stray further into digital virgin territory.
Interpack 2014 kicks off this Thursday in Dusselforf, showcasing the latest packaging technology and solutions and the digital showpieces are grabbing much of the attention. The KAMA DC 76 is running its new stripping and blanking unit (SBU), offering quick converting for short run folding carton work completely side-stepping the need for tools or manual processes. According to Marcus Tralau, KAMA CEO, the greatest challenge was maintaining register precision throughout.
“We solved this with our AutoRegister which aligns each sheet to a print mark with the highest precision. Secondly digital printing needs flexible solution to come out profitably with short and medium-sized runs. This is where the new SBU is scoring. As the unit does not need job-specific tools, job changes can be done quickly and flexibly,” said Tralau.
The German-based manufacturer keeps at the forefront of digital print finishing solutions, targeting the increasing pressures on converters to meet shorter lead-times and remains cost-efficient on short and personalised runs. Applications include hot foil stamping, blind embossing, die-cutting and creasing. The KAMA DC 76 handles digitally printed or cut sheets at high registration accuracy and delivers fully separated blanks to the delivery unit in up to four parallel streams, without hanger holes or windows.
The KAMA DC 76 can be found in Hall 13, stand C77, where it will be running a range of live jobs printed on the HP Indigo 30000 digital folding carton press, tackling up to twelve Ups per sheet.
