drupa news: avoid the schnappe trappe
Printing Industries may have its Party Bus for drupa's Aussie Night BBQs, but locals attending the world's biggest printing exhibition are being encouraged to take additional precautions.
German native and Printing Industries supa drupa tour agent Gerd Wilmer of Landmark Travel says travellers should be wary of the Schnapps trap.
"Schnaps (only one "p" in its pure German form) is the generic name for dozens of different types of clear spirits. They are generally 40 percent alcohol and made from wheat, juniper, potatoes, grapes and such," Gerd (pictured) said.

"You never get your lips wet with any of these; the alcohol goes straight to your head and stays there until well into the next day. A great deal of caution is advised when imbibing this beverage. Be wary of locals encouraging you to have a few more to 'help digestion.
Gerd also has some tips about paying for drinks and meals.
"Generally you do not pay for your drinks when you order. Rather the waiter marks your coaster and you pay when you leave in cash. In a pub do not expect to be able to pay by credit card. Most restaurants do accept cards though. American Express and Diners are not widely accepted," he said.
"A service fee is already included in your bill - no need for tips. However, it is customary to round up a bill to the next Euro or more. You are free to give extra if you feel it is warranted."
Printing Industries national communications and technical services manager, Joe Kowalewski, said the Aussie BBQ was proving very popular for sponsors with Océ-Australia the latest to sign up.
"We welcome Océ on board along with our current sponsors Agfa, Heidelberg, Fuji Xerox, PaperlinX, Tharstern Australia, the Currie Group and HP Indigo. These events, on Sunday 1 and 8 June are going to be great events for everyone," he said.
