DS Chemport (DSC) factory badly damaged by fire

But according to Graham McKenzie, managing director, there will be no disruption to customer's supply. He maintains the company will be back in production of some products as early as today [Thursday] and an official statement will be issued tomorrow. (Pictured is the damage caused to the main factory building) DSC is part of the global FujiHunt group, which also has a major manufacturing facility in Malaysia

The fire began around 10.00am and consumed the production facility at Campbellfield in Melbourne’s north, which recently had a $3 million upgrade. It attracted fire brigades from around the metropolitan area and presented fire fighters with significant problems due to the presence toxic chemicals and solvents. More than 45 fire fighters fought the blaze in full protective gear and breathing masks.

DSC produces printing chemicals, such as fountain solutions, washes and varnishes for the printing industry.
