A band of seven local HP digital printers made their way to country music capital USA to pick up the latest riffs and licks in digital printing diversity.

Dscoop gatherings are becoming more like celebratory festivals as the HP users group membership climbs towards 8,000. The latest knees up in Nashville had everything from country music performers to inspirational speakers and over 2,400 digital printers browsing through the products of 90 technology partners.

It also had a small but dedicated representation from Australia and New Zealand.

According to David Minnett, CEO of Group Momentum in Sydney and Dscoop APJ Chairman, the latest event reemphasizes the value of the group. “It was a very solid conference focused on how to take the opportunities to diversify and grow your business. The printing industry is going through a whole world of pain at the moment, not only here but in the UK and the USA. It’s becoming very apparent that printers have to change. Dscoop provides a way of interacting with other people from different regions facing the same challenges,” he said.

One of the highlights of the official programme came with the announcement that Dscoop is launching two new efforts to enhance business growth worldwide, Dscoop University and the Dscoop Print Directory. The former is a community-driven training program available worldwide for print service providers to expand their knowledge of the digital print industry and drive business growth. The customized curriculum will span multiple market segments and functional tracks that include marketing, sales, operations and technology-specific topics.

The Dscoop Print Directory is a web-based tool designed to provide marketers, designers and print professionals with a quick way to connect with digital print service providers around the globe.

The local Australian and New Zealand industry will be able to explore the two options at the upcoming Dscoop event around PacPrint in Melbourne in May. In addition, Dscoop Asia 2013 will be held May 12-13 in Beijing, China in conjunction with China Print 2013.
