Durst boosts its Southeast Asia presence

Durst has picked up the pace of its Asian market penetration with a new distribution hub in Singapore. Durst Asia will concentrate on large format printing as sales in ceramic and textile print continues to grow.

The press manufacturer ended 2011 with a sales increase of more than 32% after opening of its second plant in Lienz, Austria. Durst’s sales for 2011 totalled around 170 million euros (A$210m).

Photo Electronic Services [PES], the Australian and New Zealand distributors of Durst products, claims the digital equipment manufacturer has had a pretty good run in the local market over the past quarter. The new hub will offer Durst products that were previously unavailable to the local market, Barry McCartney, sales manager for PES, said.

“Durst has traditionally been quiet in Asia while performing quite well in Australia and New Zealand. In the past quarter PES has completed six Durst installs in Australia. Melbourne has claimed two Rho 800 UV flatbeds and a Rho 320R 3.2m wide roll-to-roll UV inkjet.

“Durst Asia will be launching its new Omega 1 hi-res small format flatbed printer into some Southeast Asian markets, yet this has been available locally for some time. It was on display at Visual Impact and one was purchased at the show,” McCartney said.

The manufacturer expanded into textile printing this year with its Kappa line. Its product line-up now covers ceramics, labels and large format printing.
