Economist joins colour standards briefing

Information on global economic conditions and their impact on the Australian printing industry will feature in the presentations of speakers at the Standards Based Printing – Your Passport to World Colour dinner briefings in February.

Printing Industries’ economist and national manager for policy and government affairs, Hagop Tchamkertenian, will provide the latest industry update as well as talking through some of the steps companies can take to minimise business disruption in turbulent times.

“It’s very important that companies don’t panic into sacrificing their strengths. Benchmarking universally shows that profit leaders invest in their primary resource, their employees, in good times and bad,”  he said.

“So, while focusing on cost control, you should maintain your investment in your key people because education and training is even more important in tough times.”

Keynote speaker Andreas Kraushaar, (pictured) will also be emphasising managing in tough times and focussing on the opportunities printing businesses can create through colour management processes.

Kraushaar is the Head of Fogra’s Prepress Division and an expert on the development and implementation of colour standards. He believes that colour standards are an integral part of making printing simpler by eliminating costly and time consuming variables.

The dinner briefings will be held in Melbourne on 24 February, Sydney 25 February and Brisbane 26 February and are sponsored by both Kayell and Epson.

According to Robert Gatto, director of Kayell, many printers are confused as to what ISO means and can benefit from introducing these standards into their business.

“Australian and New Zealand printers are faced with challenging times to compete both domestically and with offshore printers. I firmly believe proofing and printing to ISO standards delivers a very significant marketing advantage and we are passionate about helping our customers implement it successfully, at whatever level they wish,” Gatto said.
