EFI in makeover of BEST

For those who scratched the surface, a newly designed and simplified GUI was there to be tried but to all intents and purposes, EFI proofing was Best with a new hat on. After drupa, select media have been informed that, come August, totally re-written proofing offerings featuring Best technology will appear.

Named EFI ColorProof XF, the initiative is to deliver all options in a modular and
cross-platform, client-server environment. It works on Mac OSX or Wintel (PC) and the software will reside on a central server where all terminals can access it and
make contract proofs on multiple cheap desktop printers such as Epson's new
SP4000.

"It means that contract proofing can now be intergrated into any IT/workflow
infrastructure and non-colour management literate operators can perform highly
complex proofing tasks by clicking and dragging icons in the simple GUI. It's a
whole new attitude to proofs," enthused Russell Cavenagh of local distributor DES.
