Eight new printers hit the Versamark

Kodak is on a roll with its Versamark line-up as eight new models make their debut at Graph Expo in the US, before a global product launch end-September.

According to Isidre Rosello, general manager of digital printing solutions at Kodak, there was market space for a high-speed color inkjet delivering higher performance in less space.

"These devices take our proven technology and make it even better with higher image quality, enhanced features, smaller footprint, and a focus on ensuring an easy upgrade path,"he says.

Targeted at transactional, direct mail, and short-run newspapers applications, the eight new additions to the Versamark line-up offer a 40% smaller footprint than competitive systems. All new models feature a single-engine duplex design and next generation Drop on Demand (DOD) print heads.

The monochrome Versamark 100N/100W and 150N/150W printing systems represent the entry level, while the 300N/300W and 500N/500W systems provide full-colour output with more features for customers who need them.

The addition of the new systems brings the Versamark line to 14 different models addressing the individual needs of each customer. Customer productivity with the VL-series has also recently been improved with a number of backwards-compatible enhancements.

Steve Ford, sales and strategic product groups director for Kodak Australasia, says the VL-Series has helped many local customers expand into new higher value applications with affordable colour output.

“These enhancements will enable in-plant printers, transactional service bureaus, and newspaper publishers to maintain peak efficiency while delivering the quality their clients demand and expect.

“The VL-Series is a key part of Kodak’s inkjet portfolio, and we will continue to innovate and expand our VERSAMARK product category to be in front of the changing market needs for our customers and their customers," says Ford.

Specific enhancements and innovations for the VERSAMARK VL-Series include:

  • More consistent dot-size variation, which optimises flat-field print density and delivers enhanced reliability, quality, and system uptime while reducing jagged line occurrences
  • Increased printhead life through ink degassing and temperature control innovations
  • Improved uptime and component lifetime achieved through advanced operator training for preventative maintenance.
