Emma Freedman to host PICA Victoria dinner
The most important event in Victorian print is on during Melbourne Cup Week and will be hosted by media and racing identity Emma Freedman – now it’s time to reserve your place if you don’t want to miss the great race!
The PICA Victoria Presentation Dinner, to be held on 4 November at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins Ballroom, will coincide with one of Melbourne’s most colourful events, the Spring Racing Carnival. Naturally, therefore, the Dinner will be themed to fit in with the festivities, with media personality Emma Freedman, a member of one of the country’s most successful and enduring racing dynasties, named this week as host for the Dinner.
The daughter of trainer Lee Freedman, Emma is widely regarded as one of Australia’s brightest emerging talents, moving from her early career in horse racing administration to become involved in media, fashion, sport and entertainment.
Over the past 12 months, her involvements have included long term agreements with Nine Network, as an on air presenter for programs including TODAY, Wide World of Sport and Nine’s racing coverage and with retailer David Jones as its Racewear Ambassador. She has also enjoyed successful media partnerships in the past with the Herald Sun, The Age, 3AW, Fox FM, SEN and Thorough Vision. Emma (pictured) is also an ambassador for ‘You Can’, an
initiative of the Sony Foundation, that raises funds to build stand-alone youth cancer wards in Australian hospitals.
“We’re delighted to have Emma as our host for the evening,” said PICA Victoria Chairman, Trevor Hone, this week. “She is an outstanding presenter and obviously very knowledgeable about the racing industry – plus she will undoubtedly add to the glamour of the evening.”
“The PICA Dinner has established itself over the past few years as the industry’s ‘Night of Nights’,” Hone says, “and with good reason. Not only does it provide the opportunity to be the first to celebrate with this year’s medal winners, but also to enjoy a night of world-class entertainment and gourmet dining. It’s just a great place to come together, celebrate our industry and enjoy catching up with colleagues and friends.”
Importantly, says Hone, it’s also an event where partners are welcome. “In tough times especially, work consumes a great deal of our lives, so it’s great to have an excuse to have a night out together, enjoy the dining and dancing, and have your partner join in the celebration of what we do.”
Tickets to the dinner are $155 – a price which has remained constant now for four years – and can be reserved by emailing vic@printnet.com.au or faxing your details to (03) 9561 8780.
