Environmental mix and match helps paper buyers
The website, PaperSpecs identifies recycled papers through a search option, allowing designers and print buyers to find recycled papers from a database of 4,200 papers from 70 mills.
Ethics and environmental consciousness are behind this trend, according to PaperSpecs founder Sabine Lenz. “Most people want to be socially and ecologically responsible, designers and print buyers are no different,” she said. “But finding and matching recycled and sustainable papers within a project can be time-consuming and complicated. PaperSpecs … helps paper specifiers to find the perfect green paper in less than 10 seconds.”
The PaperSpecs database includes 600 papers that are Forest Stewardship Council certified and 1,400 that meet or exceed EPA requirements. As the first online database designed for helping designers and print buyers with making a paper choice, Lenz noted that the site will be regularly updated with the latest information.
“Our members need to know all the facts and how complimentary FSC and recycled contents are in order to make informed decisions,” she said.
