Epson drives the culture of digital photography

The international imaging contest has rewarded excellence in photography since 1994, the year Epson brought its first colour inkjet printer to the market, and is promoted as a means of encouraging new forms of expression through digital printing and other forms of media.

Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to submit their prints by the deadline of August the 31st, with some of the prizes including trips to Tokyo and around $A75,000 to share among the winners. The competition has grown beyond its origins in Japan over the last decade to become a truly international contest, with almost half of the 105,033 entries from last year coming from outside of Japan.

The “Color Imaging Award” is the most prestigious award of the contest, with entries consisting of photographs, computer graphics, paintings, lithographs and illustrations that explore the possibilities for expression through digital technology.

The “Nature and Human Life Photo Award” is aimed at photographers who specialise in natural scenery, animals, plants and human portraits, while the “Family Snap Award” is for those who enjoy taking photographs of family, friends. sports and other events.
