FAB installation for PressPrint Solutions
Rounding out HP Indigo printed work, the second Watkiss DFS automatic booklet making system installed in Australia by FAB Equipment keeps finishing in-house for Melbourne-based PressPrint Solutions.
FAB Equipment has sold three Watkiss DFS machines in Australia in the last six months. This first installation was at Tobin Brothers Funerals earlier this year.
Kevin Stevens, managing director of PressPrint says as the new machine was chosen for its ability to finish highly varied weights of stock and doesn’t mark the print work done on its 3050 HP Indigo. “This machine also gives us the ability to have a bigger more flexible machine as we grow which we appreciate will come in very handy in the near future.”
“The demand for book making has increased in the last three months, and it makes sense to do this in house so we can oversee the quality of the final product before we pack it, which is of paramount importance to us. We certainly want to be looking at a laminator machine next.”

“It’s a modular machine so it can grow with us, there are a lot of machines out their which claim to be for digital when they are actually built around an offset model, we are predominately digital so it made sense to get equipment that accounts for that.”
Manufactured as modules, the Watkiss range of digital finishing equipment suits the high demand and low demand operators with its ability to expand feeders towers and swap between collating, sheetfeeding and different capacity booklet making solutions at any stage.
Matthew Benn, managing director of FAB Equipment says the range of finishers are so upgradeable that brand new components can be fitted to 15-year-old machines, “and still upgrades all the software to the current model so that it works like new models.”
