Sydney digital printer Global Printmart Australia has collapsed into liquidation and a creditors meeting has been called for next week.
Owner/director Matthew Ho opened his business ten years ago at Kingsgrove in Sydney’s south, offering business cards, brochures, flyers, posters, banners, large format print and signage.
Global Printmart employed five people and ran two digital printers until business slowed down a couple of years ago.
“It’s been a really hard market and we’ve been losing money for about a year,” says Ho.
“We used to get a lot of small jobs but now Officeworks takes all of the small jobs. Then we lost a major contract and over the past year it’s been me running the business with the help of one or two casual staff.
“We’ve closed the doors now and one of our suppliers has taken the digital printers and other machines. It’s all gone and there’s nothing left. The ATO is our major creditor but we also owe a little to the accountant and a couple of suppliers.”
Ho has decided it’s time for a career change. “Printing is hard and the last couple of years have been a bit tiring. I’m ready to try something else now and I’m looking into starting a restaurant.”
