Falling like flies - print finishers close

Melbourne’s M & M Binders the latest casualty among print finishing companies closing down due to hard times and bad debts.

A spokesperson from Foremans Business Advisors, which is handling M & M, confirmed that the company entered liquidation this week as a result of the court winding up on 9 June at the Supreme Court of Victoria.

[We are by advised by Frank Todisco, managing director Printlinx, that M&M Binders Pty Ltd, the entity gone broke, is distinct from M&M Binders, the business that is part of Printlinx. M&M Binders is still trading. We regret the confusion].

“They’re falling like flies,” said one well-placed industry source, who blamed the failures on increasing debt default by commercial printers.

These closures appear to reflect a global trend. In Germany, the VDB, (German Binders Federation) was placed into liquidation and is expected to vacate its Freiburg premises by late July or early August this year.  The dire economic situation that casued the number of members to fall to a critical level.
