PDF Tuner offers everything you would expect from half a dozen other programs combined. It can match any standard layout program in terms of features – you could use it to build files from scratch if you wanted to – but its real value lies in what it can do beyond the capability of most design tools.
For a start, it can be used to open almost any type of file in a wide range of different formats such as most varieties of PDF, PostScript, EPS/DCS, TIFF and even Scitex CT/LW files. Then it can export them again as 'clean' PDFs via Acrobat Distiller (or even back into their original file format).
You can use it to pre-flight files and check them for errors such as missing fonts and images, RGB and Lab colours, incorrect ink densities, wrongly sized pages and incorrect bleeds. Files can be automatically corrected according to pre-set specifications.
If you need to make last minute changes, such as altering text or retouching images, PDF Tuner allows for all the editing functionality of a conventional desktop layout program. Correct colours, add a drop shadow, use Photoshop plug-in filters, import text from Word or text files, and then when youÕre ready create your own perfect print ready PDF files.
