First Speedmaster CX 102 heading to Melbourne

Fifteen Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102 presses sold worldwide, with Australia’s first due to be installed by end of the year.

The press was launched at IPEX last month, with features including production speed of up to 16,500 sheets per hour. Heidelberg reports that the presses have since been sold into countries including Brazil, the UK, France, Germany, India and, of course, Australia.

According to Alastair Hadley, (pictured) Heidelberg ANZ’s general manager, sales and marketing, the machine is expected to prove popular in the local market. “Our first CX press is currently being assembled in Germany and will be installed in Melbourne before the end of the year,” he said, but could not be drawn as to say who the lucky company is.

Hadley believes that the Speedmaster CX 102 is a good fit for businesses that require higher speeds or different sheet sizes.

“We see that the CX press, which is price positioned between the CD model and the peak performance XL series, will be the ideal replacement for those companies with aging CD presses and companies who are not able to take advantage of the sheet size or the higher speed of the XL press," he said.

"The CX comes with a higher level of automation than a CD press, which means shorter make-readies and the higher speed of 16,500 sph will also provide increased productivity and is the ideal machine to sit alongside the well proven Speedmaster long perfectors.”
