Focus Press leads the way with green initiative
The awards are part of the Industry Partnership Program, an initiative designed to forge links between industry leaders and government environmental initiatives. The program's mission statement is to demonstrate how a green approach to both production and waste reduction can result in improvements to the bottom line.
Focus Press was presented with the Best Strategic Sustainability Outcome award by the Department of Conservation director general Lisa Corbin and David Truen, on behalf of NSW Minister for the Environment Bob Debus.
Focus Press achieved its impressive environmental results through the elimination of volatile organic compounds in the printing process, which it claims leads to substantial financial clawbacks as well as other savings in energy and waste.
Focus Press owner David Fuller is forthright about the potential these measures have for companies aiming for both environmentally-friendly production and to save the business a quick buck. “This proves that the triple bottom line approach to doing business can save costs,” he says.
“In a world which recognizes that our resources are finite, it is good to know that the modern approach to doing business will now consider the savings by implementing environmentally friendly methods of manufacturing and purchasing,” said Fuller at the awards ceremony.
