Free occupational and health workshops for NSW printers
Printers can learn how to improve their OH&S practices at an upcoming series of free workshops throughout NSW.
The workshops were developed by WorkCover NSW in consultation with Printing Industries and its member companies.
Printing Industries CEO Philip Andersen said the program followed the signing last year of a Partnership Agreement with the NSW Government, in which the government agreed to work with Printing Industries to provide a range of information and support functions for the printing industry, including the identification of risk areas within businesses and solutions to minimise them.
“This workshop program is an important part of this and will be complemented by a range of printed support material currently under development,” he said.
“The workshops will be run in six locations and will follow an identical two-part morning format including breakfast and lunch.”
The first part from 7.30am-9am will focus on the duty of care, vulnerable workers, workers compensation and injury management.
From 9.30am-12.30pm the focus will be on manual handling, managing chemicals, noise and machine guarding.
Andersen added that these were vital areas of print business operation and he encouraged all companies to have key personnel attend.
The workshops will be held on: 20 April – Printing Industries Sydney office 25 South Parade, Auburn; 22 April - the Chatswood Club, 11 Help St, Chatswood; 29 April – the Wests Group, 32 Industrial Drive, Mayfield (Newcastle); 4 May – Wollongong Golf Club, cnr Corrimal and Bank Sts, Wollongong; 6 May – All Seasons Tamworth Towers, cornier of Bridge and Elsworth Streets, Tamworth; 11 May – Club Central, 2 Crafts Ave, Hurstville.
