FSC Australia paves the way for builders and architects

An online product listing, it contains the necessary information for those in the industry to find products that meet their certification needs. "This database is aimed at assisting builders and the public to find products that meet their social and environmental requirements and that satisfy sustainable building rating systems such as the Green Building Council GreenStar rating," said Michael Spencer, chief executive of FSC Australia.

A strong stream of enquiries from architects and builders provided the inspiration for the Green Building Guide. "The largest number of calls we get are from people wanting to source FSC material," said Spencer.

"This will provide an invaluable resource for promoting the range of FSC products available in Australia and will ensure that the companies involved are easily accessible to an increasingly interested and environmentally aware industry and public."

Next in line for FSC Australia is a similar product listing for consumers of paper and print, to be launched soon, followed by a third listing targeting retailers who supply FSC products. "It will be an ongoing process for us," said Spencer.
