Fuji Xerox customer raves about ‘offset-like’ output from new DocuColor 8002 digital press

Documents on Call in Melbourne is the first Australian customer to invest in the new DocuColor 8002 Digital Press and they could not be happier with their decision.

According to Kevin Mack, managing director at Documents on Call, the DocuColor 8002 has – in a few short weeks - opened up new opportunities for his business and he is excited about future prospects.

“The flat, even colour that the engine produces has given us an opportunity to engage a market that was previously the domain of offset print providers. We have been active in this space over the past couple of weeks and I am happy to say that we have secured work that would normally have been allocated to rival offset providers.”

Kevin added that the increased automation of the DocuColor 8002 has done wonders for their productivity levels and turnaround times.  “We can virtually walk into the office in the morning and start printing immediately as our set-up time is minimal.  Best of all, we have complete control over the colour in order to meet our customers’ demand for consistent and reliable output that will match time after time.”

Henryk Kraszewski, (pictured) Fuji Xerox Australia’s Production Colour Marketing Manager says that the DocuColor 7002/8002 presses feature two engineering changes that put the product in a class of their own.  “These changes, a low gloss toner and an inline spectrophotometer combined with the Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS), allow auto-calibration, spot colour matching and advanced colour profiling which provide print providers with key productivity benefits.  We can clearly see from Kevin’s comments that these changes have already made a significant and positive impact on his business.”

The DocuColor 7002/8002 addresses two key challenges faced by print providers, and these are reducing costs and finding new sources of revenue.  Through automation, as provided through ACQS, press uptime is dramatically reduced and secondly, prints that feature balanced neutrals, detailed shadows and highlights coupled by the matt finish, will enable print providers to compete more effectively against their offset rivals.

The key markets that are expected to adopt this technology include commercial printers, franchise and quick printers as well as bureaus. The offset-like look and feel of the output – combined with the colour accuracy, consistency and repeatability – will be of immediate appeal to commercial printers.  “For the franchise and quick printers, the presses enable better competition against offset while its proven, robust and reliable platform will enable an easy transition to full-colour direct mail and transpromo applications in the bureau environment.
