Fuji Xerox showcases the breadth of digital life at PrintEx03

DocuColor 6060
Fuji Xerox will showcase two brand new DocuColor 6060 digital presses, its new DocuColor1250/Matchprint Proofing solution plus its award winning variable data applications and short-run book publishing solution at this year’s PrintEx, May 29-31, Darling Harbour, Sydney.
“At PrintEx, we want to represent solutions that meet the needs of the commercial printer, as well as showcase the breadth of applications that you can achieve with Fuji Xerox digital technology,” said Brett Maishman, Industry Marketing Manager, Graphic Arts, Fuji Xerox Australia (pictured).
The newest digital solution making its first ‘public’ appearance is the Xerox DocuColor 6060 digital colour press.
According to Fuji Xerox Australia’s Production Colour Manager, Henryk Kraszewski, the new DocuColor 6060 raises the bar in delivering impeccable results, proving that digital print has earnt its place in the print room.
“The press is one of only a few that can print on a wide array of paper and stocks, such as 64 gsm lightweight paper to as high as 300 gsm cover stock. Our customers can say ‘yes’ to a wider range of jobs, with greater volume and increased profitability. It really is the workhorse solution for today’s commercial, in-plant and quick printers.”
The DocuColor 6060 prints at a rate of up to 3,600 A4 images per hour, offers a resolution of 600 x 600 pixels per inch with a full eight bits of colour depth per pixel. When printing on heavyweight stocks, the print speed of the DocuColor 6060 has increased by as much as 50 per cent over previous Xerox models.
Proof is in the print
Also new at PrintEx is the DocuProof 1250, a Kodak Polychrome Graphics’ Matchprint Professional Server IIx partnered with the Xerox DocuColor 1250 digital colour printer. “In-house, short-run printing with true colour accuracy is possible with this solution,” said Kraszewski (pictured). “Users can produce in-house colour proofs accurate to the trusted Matchprint proofing standard, delivered on our exclusive co-branded Color Laser Proofing Papers.”
Patented Matchprint colour technology and interface software from Kodak Polychrome Graphics makes it simple to achieve fantastic colour results before, during and after printing. The smart user interface allows users to prioritise and manage jobs at queue and change file output parameters at RIP for reprint. Further to this, the interface will also apply pre-defined settings to new jobs, reprocess files from the job log and also export jobs.
The DocuProof 1250 is the first SWOP certified and Pantone licensed xerographic digital colour printing solution to be released in Australia.
Award -winning variable data application on show at PrintEx
Fuji Xerox’s award-winning variable data cover for B&T Weekly Magazine will be produced on the DocuColor 6060 at PrintEx. The daring personalised cover, which (amongst other eye catching stories) named each recipient of the magazine as Direct Marketer of the Year, was recently awarded Best Business Advertisement of the Year at the Australian Business and Specialist Publishers Bell Awards, where it was judged as the single best business-to-business advertisement.
The advert ran in the June 7 issue of B&T Weekly. It included two completely personalised cover stories for each recipient within B&T’s supplied subscriber list. The piece drew upon the recipient’s contact details from the database and the story was composed from a bank of pre-written paragraphs.
“The creative strategy was to demonstrate the incredible power that personalisation has in grabbing attention. Our agency DDI created an advertisement that mimicked the look and feel of B&T’s layout. From here we created powerful impact by presenting personalised cover stories using Fuji Xerox Darwin - our variable information software,” explained Fuji Xerox’s Software Marketing Manager, Chad Pearce.
Publishing by the book
The Fuji Xerox short-run digital book publishing solution will also be put through its paces on the stand, with a DocuTech 90 printing b&w pages for colour covers printed on a DocuColor 6060 digital colour press.
“The on demand advantages of short-run book publishing are being increasingly recognised in the Australian market. Advance copies, vanity publishing and education publishing are all growing areas that Xerox technology is helping people tap into,” said Maishman.
